... or, the pits.
We've been going bananas with the fruit here, but our search has not all been peachy keen. Not that we've got sour grapes or anything, but we've encountered a few bad apples while plumbing the depths of the Colombian markets.
Guanabana:
We should have known there would be problems when we couldn't cut it.
I'm pretty sure the inside of this is supposed to be soft and delicious rather than cardboard-like and tasteless. Next time, we will ask someone to pick one out for us. Sad.
Lulo
Based entirely on our fondness for its name, this was another fruit we had high hopes for. It's smell however was faintly fecal and the taste was so acidic that we couldn't actually do more than lick it. We have since learned (via the some questionable and fast internet searching) that this fruit is typically only used in juices since it's flavor is too strong on its own. We bought four. oops.
